Okay…I confess!
I totally failed the test….
Sometimes it’s just so hard not to get frustrated!
Have you ever been so frustrated to the point that you start crying…..well, that was me yesterday!
For starters, I was hungry. I was on my way to work and I was going to stop somewhere and get something to eat. Then, it just so happens that there was some MAJOR traffic. Mind me, there usually isn’t any traffic at that time of the day.
Not only was there traffic, but I was still hungry, then suddenly, my AC stops working. So now I’m running late and I’m stuck in this Texas HEAT!
So…to recap…..
I’m hungry.
My AC stopped working.
I’m running late.
And I’m HOT!
Boy, I tell you, I was hot.
But guess what? Being frustrated and angry didn’t solve my problem. Even though I was in tears, frustrated because I didn’t want to be late to my new job and about how I wasn’t going to eat until my lunch, fussing was not going to do anything for me!
When I got to work, I found that they had donuts for everyone. Me being late didn’t really count against me, and then someone opened up to me about their problems which I found were much greater than my own. When I got in my car to go home after work, my AC was working fine all of a sudden!
All this to say…
”Frustration, although quite painful at times, is a very positive and essential part of success.”–Bo Bennett
We must be able to hold back our anger and frustration. It’s a part of life. Lashing out emotions is lack of self-control. Hopefully next time, I will not let any of that stuff get to me.
This is obviously quite personal, but I’m sharing it just to remind you guys that there are things that we simply cannot control and we must learn how to stay calm even when we want to go crazy!!!
A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.
Proverbs 25:28
