Don’t forget where you come from.
Success is good. Prosperity is awesome. Blessings are even better, but don’t get caught up in these wonderful moments in your life to the point that you’ve forgotten where you come from.
Maybe you were poor the majority of your life, but now that you’re not, you’re so quick to judge someone who has been wearing the same pair of jeans every day.
Have you forgotten that there was a time in your life when you couldn’t afford anything? Don’t be quick to look down at the people who are going through what you went through yourself! Maybe you have a degree now, so you think you qualify to talk about someone who doesn’t? Oh, I get it! You have a nice car…year 2012, but she has a used car from year 98, “how shameful”, you must think!
No. It’s not shameful.
You are who you are because of what you went through. Because of where you come from. It has played a big part in molding you into who you have become today.
My fellow Africans, be who you are with pride.
My fellow Americans, be who you are with pride.
A lot of people try to change who they are…they don’t want people to know where they really come from. Instead of being ashamed of it, make a testimony out of it. Empower someone with your story.
You are NO better. Just more fortunate. One opportunity changes lives. And it changed yours. So be grateful, and acknowledge your roots, your past. Embrace it; it’ll make you shine even brighter!
Good day!
